This Kia Soul commercial was a huge hit all over the internet, mainly for the song I imagine. The Kia Hamsters are back, and this time they’re caught in the middle of some future robotic warfare video game. I’m not sure what the branding message is behind it, but I don’t think that matters. The Kia car company wanted a lot of eyes on their Kia Soul and they’re doing a fine job of that as is. I imagine we’ll see the hamsters do a few more commercials before they’re put aside for a new mascot.

 
A new report from the National Insurance Crime Bureau showcases the long history of the Ford Mustang’s theft rate. With a total of nearly 9 million Mustang’s sold over the years, you can imagine they’ve long been a hit with the car thieves in this country. The Ford Mustang is a well sought after car, and there’s the added bonus of making for an extra fast getaway car. All we can say here is that if you own a Mustang, I hope you get some sound insurance.

Since the NHTSA standardized the VIN back in 1981, the NCIB noted that a sum of 411,155 Ford Mustangs have been reported stolen right up into 2011. The most Mustang thefts occurred during the year 1981 when 20,708 were stolen. Since 2011, the number of thefts have fallen to 4,347. From 2001 until 2011, the model year which suffered the most theft accounts was the 2000 Mustang with a whopping total of 7,085! This was followed up by the 1995 model year with 6,790 thefts, and then with the ’98 Mustang with 5,394 thefts.

The older classic Mustangs are also apparently quite a problem as parts get scarce, the black market lingers awaiting a tidy profit. As for going into 2013 and beyond, I can only suspect that the numbers will rise mainly banking on the fact that they keep getting better looking and quicker.

NICB reviewed Mustang theft data from 1964-2011 and identified 611,093 theft records. Although data for all years is available, confidence in pre-1981 records is low due to the inconsistency in reporting protocols and vehicle identification number (VIN) systems in use prior to 1981.

 
Here’s the extended version of “Transactions” which is the NSX commercial done by Acura and Jerry Seinfeld. The commercial features a few awesome celebrity guest appearances throughout. We all know Jerry Seinfeld is usually a Porsche man, so it’ll be interesting to see if he ends of driving around in his free NSX.
