Every year the list of America’s most stolen cars comes and in 2011 the Cadillac Escalade tops the chart once again. It’s not surprise as the SUV is immensely popular and you’ll find a lot of them getting targeted by thieves. Of the two people I know with an Escalade, they’ve both have had theirs stolen at least once while owing them. According to information compiled by the Highway Loss Data Institute the Cadillac Escalade SUV is still the most stolen vehicle in the America. The Escalade is roughly 6 times as likely to be stolen by thieves, especially the 2008 to 2010 models. The worst offender is the Cadillac Escalade EXT, with 14 out of every 1,000 models insured likely to have a theft claim lodged at one point during ownership of one.
To make matters worse, the Escalade also has one of the steepest average losses per claim–a surprisingly high $10,555 per theft. This costs insurers, on average, about $114 for every model insured every year, though the figure has been dropping over the years.
