Celebrities have money, so they might think buying vehicle insurance is beyond them. But these stories show that even the richest celebrity could do well with a good car insurance policy to help cover damage to their beloved vehicles (which often cost more than some people’s houses do). Here’s a list of the biggest, best (or worst, depending on how you look at it) car accidents involving celebrities in 2009.

1. Tiger Woods
Naturally we start the top of the list with Tiger Woods. His Escalade saw a good bashing when his wife found out he’d been unfaithful late in 2009. If he had vehicle insurance he could have gotten that window fixed by a mobile window repair tech, and his bumper put back together so fast the media wouldn’t even know about it.

2. Beanie Sigel
This rapper may be friends with Jay-Z, but even Jay-Z couldn’t help Beanie when a car he was riding in was run off the road by a tractor trailer. Here’s hoping that tractor trailer had enough vehicle insurance to pay for Beanie’s medical expenses. After all, who wants a rapper suing them??

3. Christina Aguilera
The cute blonde singer should do her own driving, it seems. In 2009, her assistant was driving Christina’s Range Rover and rear ended another Range Rover. Busy texting, perhaps? Now Christina’s vehicle insurance will have to cover it. Thanks, assistant. You’re fired!

4. Brad Pitt
Even Brad Pitt has bad days driving. When he was maneuvering his motorcycle between two cars at a red light, his handlebars got caught on one of the cars and he took a spill. Lucky for Hollywood he sustained no injuries.

5. Tom Brokaw
Tom Brokaw was involved in a bad accident in 2009. While he and his wife were uninjured in the New York City accident, a young woman who was speeding to avoid another car was killed in the multi-car accident. Even vehicle insurance can’t change that sad fact.

6. Lawrence Taylor
We suspect Lawrence Taylor didn’t have vehicle insurance when he hit a van twice and then left the scene of the accident. He didn’t get very far driving on just three wheels. He wasn’t found to be on drugs or alcohol, so why else would an NFL legend do a hit and run?

7. Renee Zellweger
This is why you need uninsured motorist coverage on your vehicle insurance. Renee was enjoying a ride in her Mercedes G-Wagen when another driver did a U-turn and hit Renee’s very expensive vehicle. She was fine, and we hope the other driver had plenty of collision coverage. Damage to a $100,000 car will be pretty expensive.

8. Charlie Davies
Is there vehicle insurance that covers the World Cup? Soccer player Charlie Davies sustained severe injuries when he was involved in a 2009 accident. His broken bones likely will not be healed to let him play in the World Cup.

9. Nicole Richie
Paparazzi should be required to carry full coverage for vehicle insurance. One rear ended Nicole while she was driving in Beverly Hills. Never photograph and drive! She had minor injuries from the accident.

10. Del Tha Funkee Homosapien
Sometimes the show just can’t go on, like it didn’t for this rapper. En route to a performance in Denver with his cohorts, the car Del was in was hit hard by a drunk driver. Del suffered injuries and had to cancel the show so he could go to a nearby hospital for tests. Drunk driver, we’re betting your vehicle insurance rate went up a tad, didn’t it?
Celebrity accidents are no laughing matter. Neither are everyday people accidents. Be safe. Carry car insurance. Because you never know when you might rear end a celebrity.
